Make Your Dreams a Reality

Can you relate? 40 years old and still not living the life you want?

Are you guilty of telling yourself you’ll pursue your dreams some day when you “feel ready” or when the time is right?

Time is an interesting concept. It flies by yet at the same time goes slow. It all depends on what the context is. For example: If your arm grazes the cookie sheet when you reach to take it out of the oven, a minute feels like an eternity. But if you’re at the airport saying goodbye to your loved one, a minute feels like nothing.

Time is relative, and one thing that’s for sure is that time waits for no one. It keeps passing on by. So when is the time to pursue your dreams?

Right now!

Maybe sometimes you have those moments where you feel like you’re standing at the edge of a cliff and you want to leap towards your dream.

You know you have a passion inside of you – something deep within that you feel you came here to do – and you want to take the leap, knowing there’s something more for you.

There’s a part of you that believes the Universe will support you in succeeding. But there’s another part of you that is stuck in fear and overwhelmed by all the what if’s and the reasons why you should just stay safely where you’re at.

I totally understand, because I’ve been there.

I had my bottom-of-the-barrel moment when I turned 40. I looked in the mirror one morning while getting ready for work and realized I followed all the rules and I was still unhappy. Despite the fact that being an actress was my dream ever since I was a little girl, I did what I was told and became a teacher because it’s a stable career. I lived other people’s dreams until I realized that the rest of the “stability and certainty package” I was promised didn’t come.

I was 40 and alone in a condo with no husband or kids, which were promised when I followed this path. How did this happen? And worse, I wondered, what if another 10 years goes by and I’m still standing in the same place? No. I decided that wasn’t going to happen.

Then I forgave myself and everyone else I had previously blamed, got the learnings from my experience and finally made the decision to move in a new direction with a grateful heart. These 3 things were the keys to my success and they will be key to your success as well.

You, too, have a calling and a desire deep inside you; and perhaps it’s not what you’re doing in your 9-5. You know you have a passion and a talent, and it would be so great if you could blend them together to bring them into the world AND make money and impact doing it!

The details and the “how” might not be clear yet, if visible at all. Perhaps you’re left doubting if you can even make money starting your dream business and be able to leave your 9-5, or if it’s too late.

But the thought of giving up on pursuing your dream to settle for mediocre sucks the life out of you.

You don’t need to do this anymore.

Instead, you can follow those gentle nudges or signs that undoubtedly unlock your passion and purpose and will help lead you toward living your dreams.

The quickest way to finding your passion and purpose is to ask yourself what that is and then get quiet and listen to what comes to you. No one else knows your passion; only you do.

Another way to connect to your passion is to notice little clues you’re given. These clues or nudges can come in the form of an email you open, a video you’re watching on YouTube or even a person you have a chance encounter with. My business, Mindful Matters LLC, came about through a person who inspired me to start doing what I love now, instead of waiting for an opportunity. I just got started, and the rest unfolded naturally.

So don’t wait for some day when things are perfect. Start now, right where you’re at, and follow where you’re being led!

Then start taking action. Fear will come up. That’s your ego, and it does that to keep you safe. Breathe through it, and reconnect to that inner knowing you have. Trust that the right people, circumstances and situations are being put before you for a reason.

When you feel a tingle in your neck and shoulders, an extra beat in your heart or even a chill shoot down your spine, kick fear aside and take a step towards that thing that suddenly makes you feel more alive.

So, how do you unlock your passion and purpose and step into living your dreams now?

Ask yourself what you want and what makes you excited.
Notice little clues that are put on your path.
Take action on them immediately.

Take one small step at a time in the direction you want. Always in the direction you want!
