Do you have any of these habits? They could be preventing you from achieving the results you want in your life and business!
You may not even realize you have these habits because they’re invisible, and we tend to think of habits as behaviors that we can see.
But habits aren’t only about behaviors you want to start and stop…
- Like starting a morning routine or working out 5 times a week.
- Or stopping the behavior of checking your email 10 times a day or watching tv until late at night.
Your thoughts, self-talk, and emotions are habits too.
Everything is a habit including:
- Feeling guilt
- Worrying
- Your monthly revenue (if you’re a business owner)
- Complaining
- Being single
- Settling
- People pleasing
- Self-Sabotage
- Not believing in yourself
These habits are just some of the invisible roadblocks that could be preventing you from having what you want.
One day while journaling, I realized that I was in the habit of being dissatisfied.
Here’s what this habit looked like in my life:
- Downplaying my wins
- Brushing off compliments
- Focusing on what’s wrong or missing
- Telling myself “It’s not enough.”
These behaviors and thoughts caused me to feel dissatisfied- like nothing was ever enough. This was a big problem because we attract with our emotions! So that feeling of dissatisfaction and “not enoughness” manifested in my business as not enough clients or money. It manifested in my dating life as not enough dates or good, available men to choose from. It even manifested in my social life as being home a lot with not enough plans or invites to go out. The more I felt dissatisfied, the more I was given to feel dissatisfied about!
Are you stuck in a habit that’s preventing you from having what you want? If so, it’s time to disrupt the pattern!
Here’s a simple first step you can take to stop this vicious habit cycle:
Say a personal power statement out loud every day.
Behavior Scientist and author of Tiny Habits, BJ Fogg, recommends connecting a new behavior you want to cultivate to something you already do like brewing a cup of coffee or putting your feet on the floor when you wake up in the morning. This is how you make a habit take root and grow!
Here’s an example of one of the personal power statements I used to stop the habit of dissatisfaction:
Every night when my head hit the pillow, I’d say, “I’m satisfied enough.” Then I’d smile and feel good!
Feeling a positive emotion after you say your personal power statement will help wire it into your brain and before you know it this new thought will become a habit!
